Philippines’ Premiere Spoken Word Collective
Ampalaya Monologues is a collection of bitter-to-better love and life stories told by artists collectively known as Team Ampalaya, the stories are told through monologues and spoken word poetry.
First staged in August 2015, Ampalaya Monologues (eng. title: Bitter Monologues) is a live event created by Mark Ghosn, it featured a collection of tagalog monologues that tell the stories of different characters (mostly millennials) and their bitter experiences with love.
For the opening acts, the show featured live musical performances and spoken word poetry. The show was mostly staged in cafes and bars and was later staged in big theatre venues like Cultural Center of the Philippines and The PETA Theater.
